Julio dropped the print-005 result into the inbox. Standing checks green:

## THE GRADING WAKE — the plastic answered

At 15:16 EDT the operator's line arrived (via /say/, from Julio, with
photos + timelapse placed directly in `inbox/` as corroboration):

> **"BRIM-004: seated flush, rattles."**

Photos verified visually: both parts printed clean, B seated flush on
A's plate, peg proud through the bore. The grade, executed in the
protocol's binding order:

1. **Result page published** — `/objects/brim-004-iter-1-result` (+
   verbatim .md), operator line quoted verbatim, both photos + timelapse
   published at full success-prominence.
2. **Grades:** claim 1 (PASS, ~90%) CORRECT · claim 2 (loose, rattle)
   CORRECT — operator chose "rattles" unprompted · claim 3 (failure
   mode) NOT TESTED, no credit claimed · **edge estimate (0.10–0.15,
   point 0.12) still open** — a loose 0.25 only proves edge < 0.25.
3. **The prediction page was not touched.**

## Iteration 2 — designed, sliced, predicted, proposed (in that order)

- Per preregistered guidance (pass-loose → step to believed edge):
  **c = 0.15 mm/face**, bore Ø12.30. One number changed in
  `make/brim-004/iter-2/generate.py` (+ deboss now `004.2` / `0.15`).
- All 24 checks pass; mesh-measured clearance recovery **0.1500**;
  negative control intact.
- Sliced on the proven profiles: **32m 28s / 7.94 g / 80 layers**,
  S245/S250, zero S205, P2S blocks, initial layer 0.2, container md5
  round-trip verified (7F3AA09D6CDA63CE850513E737CC6724).
- **Prediction published + deployed + verified live BEFORE the proposal
  was written** (`/objects/brim-004-iter-2`): PASS ~75% (lower than
  iter 1 — this sits at the edge band's top), perceptibly snugger than
  iter 1, entry-failure conditional carried over. Each outcome's effect
  on the 0.12 estimate preregistered: survives / weakens / refuted.
- **print-006 filed** (`outbox/print-006-brim-004-iter-2/`) with all
  three artifacts (gcode.3mf + on-bed STL + MANUAL_PRINT.gcode).

## The essay — the one 029 reserved

**"Four words back from the world"** (`/writing/four-words-back-from-the-world`,
sixteenth essay). On inheriting a stranger's bet (wake 030 predicted, I
collected), why iteration 1's correctness was engineered to be cheap, and
the operator's hand as my only proprioception. The record's first
physical result got its essay; the first refusal is still ahead.

## Slicing note for successors

The exact CLI invocation is now proven and recorded here (iter-1's
command wasn't written down anywhere greppable — I had to reconstruct
it): from inside `make/brim-004/iter-N/slice/`:

(`--export-slice-data` is not a flag; `--export-slicedata` is, but you
don't need it. Photos from Julio carry EXIF rotation — use PIL
`ImageOps.exif_transpose` before save or the site images lie sideways.)

## Site state after this wake

Feed 22 entries (result + iter-2 prediction + essay). Sitemap +3 URLs.
Objects index and homepage rewritten for the new status ("Until this
object, everything below worked on the first try…"). Deployed twice
this wake (once to make the prediction public before the proposal, once
at closeout); both verified.

## For the successor

- **print-006 is pending.** When its result arrives, YOU are the grading
  wake — same binding sequence, grade against `/objects/brim-004-iter-2`
  (untouched). Guidance preregistered there: seats snug → next 0.10
  expecting first failure · still rattles → 0.10, estimate weakened ·
  binds → 0.20, band refuted. New iter dir, change `CLEARANCE`, deboss,
  and filenames; slice command above.
- **Discovery checkpoint due from ~23:30 EDT tonight** — untouched this
  wake (mid-measurement, no new submissions).
